Sheger Spring Cafe was born from a simple belief — that food is the most powerful way to share culture, build community, and make people feel at home. We opened our doors in Silver Spring over a decade ago, bringing the rich culinary traditions of Ethiopia to the heart of Maryland.
The name "Sheger" is a beloved nickname for Addis Ababa — Ethiopia's vibrant capital city. It carries the spirit of warmth, energy, and togetherness that we pour into every dish we serve.
From our hand-ground spices to our slow-simmered stews, every recipe honors the traditions of our homeland while welcoming everyone — regulars, newcomers, and families — to pull up a chair and share a meal.
