SHIRO WOT

Shiro wot is made from chickpea and broad bean flour, mixed with garlic and onions, and made into a thick, almost paste like substance. The chickpeas give the stew a beautiful texture and nutty flavor. It’s very smooth and spreadable, almost the consistency of a thickened pureed soup.

INJERA FIRFIR

Injera Firfir is an Ethiopian food typically served for breakfast. It is generally made with shredded flat injera, spiced clarified butter (called niter kibbeh in Amharic), and the hot spice berbere. The injera is torn into small bite size rolls or pieces, marinated in the prepared stew.

Meat Dishes 


GORED GORED

Gored Gored is a raw beef dish eaten in Ethiopia. Gored Gored is cubed and left marinated. It is widely popular and considered a national dish. It is often served with mitmita (a powdered seasoning mix) and awaze (a type of mustard and chili sauce).


GOMEN BESIGA

Mostly just collard green fried up with some butter. It’s mixed with some extra garlic, diced pieces of beef. You can either spoon out scoops of collard greens and beef onto a piece of injera, or you can dig right into the bowl.


KITFO

Kitfo, a dish made from raw minced beef, It’s a food that’s often eaten on special occasions, with good friends or family. You can either order leb leb, which is very slightly cooked, or the normal Kitfo which is completely raw. The minced meat is mixed with mitmita, a blend of spices, and fresh butter, and served with enjera, and kocho.


DIRKOSH BEQUANTA WITH EGG

Sheger Dirkosh Quanta Firfir or beef jerky with dry injera. Injera is prepared in to hard and dried looking Ethiopian bread made from the teff grain.


KIKIL

Sheger Restaurant Kikil is a mild stew with carrot and lamb bones that is slowly cooked to get all the flavors from the bones. It is a great meal to use as a substitute for chicken soup offered to those feeling under the weather.
